Tonight, on Thursday’s Culinary Adventure:
I usually write on the pictures, but this week it wouldn’t all fit; because we’re having:
Chocolate Chip Pound Cake with Hot
Fudge, Strawberries, and Whipped
Cream!
Yes, perhaps not the most adventuresome, (IT’S BOUND TO BE GOOD!) but remember that I have been sick! Plus, when I thought of it, it just sounded delicious and I couldn’t resist!
I used a pound cake mix, but I am sure that you could make it completely from scratch if you really loved your family!
Here to help me tonight is my little buddy and constant side-kick, Joseph!
Follow the directions on the box, you only have to add water and eggs, and then get your hand mixer ready.
Mix for about 5 minutes.
This is Joseph’s face at the exact moment that I turned the mixer on…
Which resulted in me having to do this
for the rest of the mix time
Once it is all mixed and fluffy , dump in some chocolate chips!
(I used some extra big milk chocolate ones that I found in bulk at Winco.)
Grease your pans and pour the batter in. I used a Bundt pan for the prettiness factor.
Bake for about 35 minutes, or until golden brown.
While it is cooking, try to distract your toddler , so that you can clean up HIS culinary adventure in the kitchen.
Then, pin the said toddler to the wall with your leg so that you can safely open the oven and remove the cake without him touching it. (Not pictured, but it happened.)
Voila! (Piece missing courtesy of Brian)
Chop up some strawberries, and put them in a lovely blue bowl.
(No blue bowl? Well, I’m sure that any bowl would do…sigh…poor you!)
Get out your hot fudge, your whipped cream, and whatever else you think needs to go on top. (Nuts, maybe? Sprinkles? The world is your oyster.)
Pile it on and gobble it up!

Taste Tester’s Say:
Caitlin: “YUMMM! Thumbs up!”
Brian: “Great Dessert!” (This face could mean anything.)
Summary: Just a little something special and delicious to finish off a warm spring day! Next time I am going to double the amount of chocolate chips, though. I was worried that it would be to rich, but it’s not at all!
This chocolate chip pound cake would also be delicious with a cup of coffee. Maybe my morning coffee?
Grade: A

You are too awesome. I just love your little culinary adventures. And thanks now I want pound cake and I have to decide how badly b/c it is going to involve a trip to the store. ;)
YAHOO! That looks SO good! Lucky Boys and it looks like you are feeling better, too. I did see you do the trick with your leg holding Joseph away from the oven. You do it very well and it isn't easy.
oooh, I wish I'd had some of that with MY morning coffee... instead, I'm off to have a bowl of heart-healthy oats. woot!
That sounds so good. Can you really ever have too many chocolate chips.
I know exactly that let pinning move with the toddler to open the stove. If I am not pinning him I am having his big brother hold him back but that is sometimes worse because he doesn't like that at all.
I did not just see this. I do not need to make this. I am trying to lose weight. Pretend you didn't see this. resist.
