Walking Away

IMG_7823

To some, this picture may just look like a baby out for a walk (well, technically, its a “push!”) on a warm fall day.

To me, it signifies much more.

For the first time, my baby is able to walk away from me.

Gone are the days when he would sit like a chubby bump on a log, crying for me, and lifting his arms to be picked up and carried where he wanted to go.

Now, if he sees something that he would like to explore, he can, almost always, make it there on his own.  He doesn’t really need me for that part of his life anymore.  Sigh.

Before I know it, he will be walking away from me to go to Kindergarten, then walking away to his dorm room, and finally walking away to marry some chick and then forgetting to call me until she (hopefully!) reminds him.  Just like his Daddy did.

But for now, thankfully, he still comes right back to his Mommy! :)

I'm so glad you all liked the Casserole Thingy (still no real name but I'm okay with that). JR has been angling for it again. I'd hate to spoil him. I'm trying to lower his expectations.

Oh yeah! About Joseph walking away. Don't fret too much. They keep moving back home.

Would ya just snuggle his little neck for me? You know that spot between his neck and his shoulder. Besides nursing it's the part I miss the most 20+ years later.

thanks for stopping by!
Yes I made the "2" shirt, I just used iron on transfer, I should have sewn it on but thought it would be ok, but he picked at it and it started comming off. I also made cute halloween shirts too same way

So adorable! I love that age before they're walking "perfect" and are more "pushers" than "walkers"!

Oh I remember how I felt when JG started walking. It is so emotional.

Great post and Wordful Wed.

This is a good stage of independence and charting new territory! Have fun with it too!

I struggle with this each day as my children grow -- but even my thirteen year old comes right back when she needs mom (which is quite often to my pleasure).

How is it that we feel joy and sadness in every milestone of our childrens lives?

It is a paradox I believe most Mommas struggle with - the growing up but also away of their babies. I can only HOPE that Joseph picks a wife as communicative and wonderful as you are to me, so you will be able to continue to hear the stories and thoughts of your baby/grown up boy.
