Culinary Disaster

I know that tonight is supposed to be a Culinary Adventure, but I had to go pick my cousin up from the airport (YAHOO!) and now the Office is starting in ten minutes so…  I will post it tomorrow- I promise!

In the meantime, my culinary disaster.

I cannot make banana bread!  I follow the recipe exactly, and it fails.

Here is what happens.  The loaf looks toasty brown, even on the edge of over-done-ness, yes?

Except for the middle.  What’s wrong with the middle?

Oh, it is raw in the center, and it collapsed and “pooped” all of the raw insides onto my countertop.

I tried to put my snowman cookie jar in the shot to make me feel better.IMG_0257

Why?  Why?  Why?

If you have ever successfully made banana bread, please help a sister out.

Do you think it's your oven? I am wondering if there is something wrong with it since it does not seem to cook evenly. Have you tried a different recipe? Maybe banana bread muffins?

That sucks! I've never made Banana Bread, only Beer Bread. :-) But I agree with T Rex Mom, maybe it's the oven.

Did you atleast eat the outside of it? LOL! That part looks yummy.

You know what a pro I am in the kitchen, so take my advice with a grain of salt, but I would guess the oven was cooking to hot so it browns on the outside without cooking through and through on the inside. You'll figure it out, I'm sure!

lower the oven temperature about halfway through the cooking. our oven does that to a coconut cake, we start it off at 180 degrees celcius and lower it to 140 (sorry, i don't know the farenheit conversion) until the timer goes off. it seems to work!
