Joseph, Brian and I had a great time baking and decorating Halloween cookies last night!
Really, it was a lot of fun and it held Joseph’s interest for a long time.
But, when I started thinking about the post that I would create to commemorate this family time, I thought- you know what? It wasn’t all fun. And it wasn’t all perfect. So I’m not going to pretend that it was. Because that’s what makes it MY LIFE!
So, there are two parts to this post.
1st: The memory I was going to post
2nd: What was really going on.
.
Let us commence on our idyllic holiday
decorating journey with PART ONE:
.
My darling little helper, Joseph, ready to mix up some cookies!
Seeing him roll out these cookies was seriously just about the cutest thing ever
Carefully cutting out Halloween shapes
Decorating time!
Lots of sprinkles…
Smelling the frosting (why not?)
My baby’s first Decorated Cookie!

.
Okay, Are you ready for what was REALLY going down?
Part Two: Cookie Decorating in
My Real World

I so admire your honesty. For me, I don't have the patience, especially right now, to even attempt such an event. Foot painting cards is about all the patience I have.
But you are right, that rolling the dough photo - serious cuteness! And I do like his hair cut!
Were the cookies yummy? It could have been a culinary adventure!
You are SO REAL! What mother doesn't dwell on the positive, but the reality is part of the memory, too. No wonder you have so many "followers" - WE CAN ALL RELATE!
this is the best post! totally made my day.
this was awesome. totally made me smile. I am so the same way. And I LOVE that you were taking pictures in your bra.
You are awesome!
I love how you write with such humor and fun! You're a real down to earth mommy who knows how to make the little things of the day special for her kids. Joseph is so cute in all the pictures. I better take out my cookie cutters now!!
I love it!
You know how sometimes you type "LOL" in a comment but you didn't really. Well, this post really did make me laugh out loud ... a lot. It is just so true that the "beautiful" memories we try to make are often "ruined" by real life. Your sense of humor is sooooo perfect and wonderful and lovely and, well, I just loved this post.
Funny, funny, funny! I have so many memories of similar events when all the time I was thinking "Good grief! Why am I doing this??" but then look back and think of what a special time that was in the saga of parenting. It's like childbirth....you remember the joy and wonder and forget the pain.
omg, that made me laugh hysterically!
haha! :) so sweet. :) love his little haircut.
LOL.... round one makes me so jealous because I can't ever pull something that nice off with my boys. Thanks for sharing round two because that is exactly how things go down in my house.
Yesterday, I thought I was going to loose it with two boys and sticking their fingers in the birthday cake I was trying to decorate. Lets just say I was on crazy mean mom and felt bad for it. Eventually everyone was banned from my kitchen because I couldn't take it anymore.
I think I would die laughing if I ever met you in real life.
