Trick Pony

Believe it or not, Joseph has already learned ANOTHER trick this week! He is turning into a regular Trick Pony! He can make kissy noises on cue...although he doesn't exactly kiss me ever so I am not sure what the relevance of this trick is.

Here you are...the "kissy" video. Oh, and then he chokes on a pear. You win some, you lose some.

He Likes Me, He Really Likes Me!

This post could also be called "Laughing With Cheerio."

New Trick

Joseph learned a new trick on Friday- he can wave "bye-bye!" He waved for the first time at some random, large, and sightly scary looking, construction worker who talked to him at a local bagel joint. Maybe he was just happy to leave? In any case, here is the proof.

My book of baby milestones says that most babies start waving around 7-9 months, but hey, better late than never! (I choose to believe that the book is outdated...)

A Skeleton with a Doll

Here’s a pairing that you don’t see ever day!

IMG_6847

IMG_6848 It is a boy doll, by the way.

(also notice the skeleton’s fluffy slippers… not a very tough skeleton, as it turns out.  Cute as heck, though!  I gave this skeleton a big hug this morning, aren’t I lucky?!)

I Believe I Can Fly

Joseph thinks that Daddy is so much fun!  No wonder he gets so bored with me, I could never do this…

Doesn’t it just strike terror in your heart?  Joseph loves it!

Video Post 1

If laughter is the best medicine, then a baby's laughter must be the cure! Wish I could bottle this up and send it to all of you!!! Enjoy!

A Rough Night

We experienced a pretty rough night last night, which included Joseph staying awake (crying) until 11:30 pm, and wanting to get up for the day at 5:30. This is what he looked like this morning:

IMG_6902

Check out those dark circles, droopy eyelid, and puffy under-eyes!! Yowza! You should have seen what I looked like! Well, no, be glad that you didn’t!

IMG_6905

Here’s to a better night tonight, Joseph! Are you with me?!!!

Time In = Time Out

Happy 10 month Birthday,

Joseph!

IMG_6922

(This post includes pictures of my failed photo-session attempts. He just wouldn’t hold still!)

Your time outside in the world now equals the time you spent in my belly- although, let me tell you, it felt like you were in there YEARS longer!

It’s hard to believe that you are getting so old, sweet baby boy, and look at all that you have accomplished!IMG_6923

-You have nursed a minimum of 560 times (at least twice a day for 280 days- and you DEFINITELY nursed more than twice a day at first!)

- You have bit my you-know-whats approximately 7 million times (and just in the past two months- IMPRESSIVE!!) Which brings us to:

- You have grown two (sharp!) teeth.

- You have learned to hold your heavy head up, sit on your own, roll over, crawl like a champ, and pull yourself up.

- You are eating new and exciting big-kid foodIMG_6925

- You have grown into 18-24 month shirts, and 12-18 month pants (you have one heck of a torso, kid!)

- You have learned how to shake your head and throw things deliberately off of your high chair (after which they magically appear back on your tray…hmm…)

- You have learned to smile and laugh (my favorite part!)

- You have learned to fake laugh (I appreciate the effort)

IMG_6933

- You have changed your sleep schedule a trillion times to keep Mommy guessing and in a semi-permanent state of exhaustion

- You have made me a Mother.IMG_6928

I love you very much, little guy, and so does your Daddy, wherever he is. (Haha, just kidding. He’s slaving away at work as I leisurely blog and eat peanut butter M&Ms!) I can’t wait to witness the many, many months ahead! What’s next?!!

First Trip to the Zoo!

IMG_6732

Last Thursday, along with my friend and her baby, I took Joseph on his first trip to the zoo! He had a bad night and a cruel 20 minute AM nap, so I was exhausted, but decided to go anyway. The zoo had to be better than hanging around the house with a grumpy baby! Surprisingly, he really, really liked it!First Zoo trip At one point, the macaw next to us was screeching at the same time that the monkeys were swinging around their cages. Joseph thought that it was those silly monkeys making that noise and he LAUGHED and LAUGHED at them!!

We also got to see a huge boa constrictor. I was nervous, as the handler said that he might bite, so I held on to Joseph’s hands when we got close. (Although why they would let a biting boa constrictor out of his cage is COMPLETELY beyond me!)

IMG_6725

Then, the handler said, “I am losing control of the snake, I had better put him down!” Let’s break this down. First of all- he is losing control of the snake…? Isn’t his JOB to be in control of the snake? Secondly, if you are losing control of a huge creature of any kind, would you decide to PUT IT DOWN IN THE GRASS NEXT TO THE CHILDREN WHO ARE PLAYING?! That’s nuts! And so are any of the mothers who would let their child get within a mile of that mammoth predator slithering on the grass!! Well, okay, so I did set my helpless, bite-size baby down next to the potential creature of his doom, but only for a quick picture, I promise!! IMG_6730 Joseph and his friend loved touching the statue of the Komodo Dragon, since mean old Mommy wouldn’t let him play with the real one! He still thinks it is pretty cool that he can stand up on his own.First Zoo trip1

This is my favorite picture of the day:IMG_6759

Isn’t it funny that I assume that they are best friends, even though, really, the only reason why they hang out together is because of forced outings like this?!! Oh well, that is the way that it is going to be until he is old enough to choose his own friends. And, let’s face it, even then I will probably choose most of them for him- no hooligans for my sweet angel!

The boys started to get grumpy (see picture of whiny babies below),IMG_6763 so we wrapped it up and headed home to a glorious nap time for both of us. And okay, I lied,

This is my favorite

picture of the day…

IMG_6765

Oh nap time, how I love thee.

Hello My Name Is...

IMG_6174
Age: 10 months

Likes:
Cheese, yogurt, a good watermelon, fruit puffs, veggie booty... okay food in general. Also, Mommy, Daddy, binkie, blankie, and taking naps (in spite of himself). "Hammering" things, playing with toys, and exploring the park-as long as the grass doesn't touch him! (see below)

Dislikes:
Not being able to do everything himself, getting his face wiped, having to hold still to get clothe
s on, the feel of grass, and the carseat.("I hate this grass stuck to my hand!!")

Accomplishments: Crawling, shaking head "no, no" and knocking things off of his high chair for Mommy to pick up. He also has a great eye for electrical cords, and other hazards left laying about...

When He Grows Up He Wants to Be: Mommy's best friend
and her little boy forever and ever!
