On Sunday we had a lovely traditional Scottish breakfast at the hotel (we managed to avoid the black pudding) and we began our exploration of Scotland.
Hello Brian driving on the wrong side of the car on the wrong side of the road!
Edinburgh Castle- we didn’t actually stop because it was crowded and we were too nervous driving in the city!
The rest of the drive to Stirling was a blur of rain and green

We stopped at Stirling Castle, where William Wallace (Braveheart) lived.

Then, more blurs of rain and green as we head over to the Loch Lomond area.
After checking into our lovely bed and breakfast (they had toys, a crib, and a blow up bed waiting for us! Heaven!) we explored the surrounding woods and Loch Lomond itself.
See the waves? In the lake? Windy!
See the raincoats? Completely drenched? Rainy!
But oh so lush and beautiful and peaceful!
Joseph LOVES the idea of climbing trees- although he still needs help from us to get up there!

Brian’s face is muddy because of having Isaac on his shoulders with dirty hands/shoes. I am squinting because the rain is blowing in my face.
Side note: Did you spot Brian’s basketball-injury pinky?
He had it in this horrible, comically huge traction-cast when we were in high school and I specifically sought him out to make fun of him about it!
Ah, high school flirting days! Looooong before the thought of having two kids and taking them to Scotland ever crossed our minds.
Anyway, once Joseph’s pants were so soaked that they kept falling down, we decided to head back to the B&B for hot showers and bed.

2: I love Isaac saying "Wow" to the flowers while you're standing on ancient castle grounds in another country. Oh the simple things in life.
